The people creating these horns had evolved from mere manufacturers, to artists of instrument creation. The latter years when the Conn factory was located in Elkhart, Indiana represented a golden age of Horn manufacturing. Up for bid is this Conn 8D Elkhart“M” Series Double Horn in AMAZING condition! As many serious professional Horn players know. This instrument comes with its original hardshell case which is worn and missing one latch. This horn is not lacquered therefore fingerprints should be wiped off after use if the player wishes for the horn to maintain its shine. This instrument has been cleaned, and repaired to full playability.

All this is visible in the pictures, and none of it affects the playability of the horn. As for the aesthetic condition of this horn, there are many tiny pings, as well as scratches, pitting, and rippled areas throughout the instrument(particularily on the bell flare and leadpipe area) and several silver brazed repair scars on the bell(there are several close ups of this repair) In addition to this, the brace on the main tuning slide as well as the lyre holder on this horn are not original. The valves have good compression, and the slides all move. more solid nickel silver in Conn's Elkhart factory. Up for auction is a 1966(serial number H48615) Conn 8D Double French Horn.
